The Fukuda Denshi Arena (Chiba City Ball Game Ground) was constructed as a playing field for soccer, and it has been used as the home stadium of the JEF United Ichihara Chiba, a team in the Japan Professional Football League (J. League). It is suitable for official games, general matches, and recreational games, and it has been used, not only for the J. League, but also a facility familiar to the citizens.

In case of a disaster, the whole park, including the arena, will become a regional disaster relief center and will serve as a local emergency center and storehouse of emergency supplies (Fig. 1 - Fig. 3)

Lighting Facilities

High color rendering metal halide lamps of 1.5 kW and 2 kW (color temperature: 5,500 K, Ra: 92) have been adopted for the light sources. For luminaires, 1.5 kW projectors with an enhanced reflective film and projectors for 2 kW short-arc metal halide lamps (general type and instant re-start type) have been adopted. Louvers attached to the luminaires help direct the light toward the playing field and reduce glare (Fig. 4).

Instant re-start luminaires have been chosen for some of the luminaires so that an illumination level of 1/100 of the level of full illumination can be achieved to prevent panic of the crowd if there is a sudden failure of the lighting due to a blackout or other causes.
